We started our project because we were curious . As young people we wanted to know what makes a person leave everything behind and start a new life in a different place. We understand that every one of us is very different and has different reasons for leaving their home. Some leave for school, some for a relationship or a job, and some even for political reasons. But we’ve found that more than anything, people immigrate because of religion. Therefore, we decided to start the project: “Moving for Faith”. We interviewed people who have immigrated because of religion and we felt that we’ve managed to express their reality and stories through photography and film.
We were divided into two groups – one from Jerusalem and one from Mainz, and we produced this project together, interviewing people from both cities.
From those conversations, we came to the conclusion that there is a lot in common about the immigration both in Israel and in Germany.
